Shoegasm

After careful deliberation on this month’s issue, I decided why not write about shoes! After the extraordinary shoegasm I received after buying and owning my loving pair of booties. Similar to that of the Gucci, suede and leather booties, with the peep toe.

Gucci’s Suede and Patent Open-Toe Booties, £539

Shoegasm is a term I use to refer to the ultimate feeling you get when you pick out and purchase a shoe so beautiful that doesn’t compete but enhances one’s beauty. The exciting thrill you get as you kick up one leg and admire it’s shape, color or in the case of this particular shoe, how it holds on to my ankle. Remarkable! The ability to truly define my carves.

Another admirable shoe trend that was more or less made popular this fall is none other than those classy nude pumps. They not only compliment or go with bright colors such as purple and orange but make your legs look miles longer. Longer legs simply mean sexier legs in my book. Unfortunately I still haven’t located my size but it is a necessity for us fashionistas. They are also favored by top celebrities such as Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Victoria Beckham, Angelina Jolie and the Royal Kate.

The anticipation for nude pumps, imagine how intense my shoegasm is going to be when I finally get it. I would be delighted! For those girls who love being more playful than sexy, would appreciate a lovely pair of wedge heel to compliment those florals or summer dresses. Ranging from flirty to classy to elegant, wedge heels has all styles and design. They are fashionable, versatile and much easier to walk in than stilettos. They work well with flowing skirts, shorts, bohemian style, thin fabrics, wrapped dresses and flared jeans or pants.

There are tons of lovely shoe trends for 2011 such as the Miami Leopard Peeptoe Pump from the Kardasian Collection, Jessica Simpson’s sexy knee high collection, Jimmy choo and Louboutin timeless lace stilettos. What ever your style or preference, be it the sexy red heels or the girly glitter pumps once it brings you shoegasm, it’s definitely worth beings yours.

GLAMBITION! Starting with False Eyelashes... :p

DIRECTIONS:
  • Before you start to apply, measure the length of the false lash to make sure it fits your eye shape. This will avoid the corner drooping or worse, the end poking into your eye. If the strip needs be shortened, cut the outer edge completely off with small nail scissors.
  • Take both edges of the false lash and bend them in to create a C shape and hold for a couple of seconds.  That's the best way to take out the straightness and ensure it molds to our curved eye shape and stays put without the corners lifting up. Just this alone will make the rest of the process effortless.
  • Apply a high quality glue such as Duolash for long lasting results, not the glue that comes with the pack! If you have a steady hand, you can squeeze straight from the tube onto the strip. Or an easier trick is to put glue on a cotton swab or a toothpick and glide it across the lash strip. Make sure to be generous at both the inner and outer corner so the glue won't unstick when you blink.
  • Wait 10 seconds or so for the glue to become more tactile and sticky before placing onto your own lash line. Try blowing on the glue or gently wave the lash around in the air to speed this up. This is the best way to keep the strip from slipping around while you're trying to line it up properly.
  • Apply the lash to the base of your natural lash line on top of your actual lashes, not on the eyelid at all. The glue dries clear so don't worry if it gets messy.
  • Apply mascara last so you can integrate the natural lashes with the false ones, making sure they mesh into each other.
  • If you see a gap showing on the eyelid skin between your own lashes and the false ones, don't pull off the strip and start again. You can just fill in the gap with either black liquid liner or eyeshadow to hide it.

    Removal:

Always remove false lashes before taking off rest of your eye makeup. First pre soften the glue with a cotton swab that's been soaked in an oily makeup remover [try  Lancôme or L'Oréal]. Use a dabbing motion along the lash line. This loosens the glue up and breaks down the strength and stickiness. While your eyes are open, take hold of the false lashes at tips of the outer corner. Then close your eyes and slowly, slowly peel them away from your own lashes, working from outer to inner corner—towards the nose.

    Stay Sweet,

Step Back and Step Up!!!

“Fashion” has “meaning”; it has sociological implications; it reflects our subconscious desires and society’s underlying feelings about women, where we live, where we belong, how we live our lives. There is one thing that is predictable in Fashion: Everything that was once old would become new again. This article would explore the dresses and skirts from the 60s and 80s that are looping itself into our era. Fashion helps pin point one’s identity and as I always say “Image is everything, invest in it!”

Let’s firstly take a look at dresses. Be it sun dresses, floral dresses, cocktail dress, strappy dresses, chiffon dresses, they are all being transformed into day to day outfits with the help of popular designers that have realized dresses are the easiest piece of clothering to pull out of the closet and accentuate for any type of event. Be it to the office, on camp, a trip to the mall, a dinner, a party, of to the club, dresses are in high demand. If you’re a sweetheart one can visit Carolina Herrera, sexy; Versace, Cute; Dior, a cutting edge; Balenciage, Elegant; Ralph Lauren or exotic; Prada. Whatever look you identify yourself with, a dress can compliment it. What matters most about a dress, however, is the length. A knee-length dress creates versatility. Dresses can be tones down with a lovely pair of sandals or flats and a cardigan or toned up with a pair of heels and glamours accessories. Those who reject strappy dresses no longer have to; invest in white or black tank tops, blazers or cardigans to add extra coverage and security. Accenting pieces allow you to promote your identity or creativity. If you’re a girly girl like myself, a cardigan and sandals with some beaded accessories during the day and diamond accented clutch and sparkly stilettos and jewelry during the night. Its so easy to dress your dress. :)

Full skirts are the new WOW, after the popular skinny jeans. Ruffles, poufs or pleats, volume are what make these skirts so special. We no longer have to squeeze ourselves into pencil skirts to look curved and attractive. The shapes are looser and airier, but no less chic and refined. However the trick in wearing these skirts is looking good, not looking like you put on some extra pounds or sloppy. For those who are insecure about there legs, black leggings are not a bad idea. Skirts should be paired with something close to your figure to accentuate the lines and sexiness of your body. Once again white or black tank tops are a great buy and very affordable. To compliment your look, wear a belt, tie a bow around your waist, picking a colour that is vibrant or attractive and tuck in your shirt (obviously). Metallic and neon colours are in; don’t be afraid to explore them when choosing accessories to add that cutting edge.

Always remember, “"Style" is an expression of individualism mixed with charisma. Fashion is something that comes after style.” Be Bold, express yourself and create ur identity!”

Invest in your image!!!

Beautiful Life - Lindsay Lohan

God wont talk to me
I guess she's pretty busy lately
I'd like to believe
She's listening

I'm starting to feel
All of my bruises imagined are real
And I'll get through each day
I dig through the bad ones
To get to the good ones
Who's keeping score anyway?

And this is my beautiful life
only thing certain is everything changes
The lows and the highs
And all those goodbyes
As hard as it gets I know it's still amazing
To be alive
It's a beautiful life

I talk in my sleep
Thats the one place i know no one can hear me
I tell myself things
Don't walk in the shadows
There's always tomorrow
And I'm right where i wanna be

And this is my beautiful life
only thing's certain is everything changes
The lows and the highs
And all those goodbyes
As hard as it gets I know it's still amazing
To be alive

It hurts while it's happening
I wanna feel everything
How can you know til you try?
And this is my beautiful life

My beautiful life
only thing's certain is everything changes
The lows and the highs
And all those goodbyes
As hard as it gets I know it's still amazing
To be alive
It's a beautiful life [3x]
It's a beautiful lie

Introduced to this sound from "The Hills", one of the soundtracks. Loved it every since. "I know its still amazing to be alive, It's a beautiful life."

GOSSIP GIRL'S jenny inspired outfit!!

I am going to be the number one source into the fashion and style from Gossip Girl. My favorite character’s style is none other than Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen). No shocker in the series itself she plays the role of an aspiring fashion designer. I love Jenny’s updated 80’s rocker style taste, thus why I was inspired to create a look for Machel Montano’s concert and other carnival fetes that I will be attending. Its the time of the year when I am inexplicably happy since one can truly express their creativity and share fashionable ideas with friends. CARNIVAL!! Here I am going to depict how easy it is to dress like Jenny. She establishes the “look for less” on gossip girl, so it would be fab to express her style here.

My first piece I used was my satin tube top, which I brought from forever21 along with the sequins skirt. These items can also be found in stores such as Bang Bang and Eastern Avenue located in Port of Spain and San Fernando.  I matched the two together, both black (jenny’s signature colour and my favourite) and complimented it with black booties.  Suite16 shoes store in Trinicity Mall is an excellent place to find trendy and affordable heels. I then finished my look with smokey black eye shadow and a signature black necklace along with my headband. Yes, “all black everything!!”

10 steps to a perfect at-home pedicure!!

Ladies cracked heels, corn and unpolished nails (meaning nail polish started peeling off) is NOT ever attractive. You want to always display proper hygiene, show that YOU mean alot to yourself, enough to always be trim, prim and proper. Always love and take care of YOU first! Here are ten effective steps to allow yourself to have a pedicure at home. Your budget depends on the items you wish to purchase or use. It is very cost efficient, quick and effective. Pamper yourself!!!! :)

1. Buff feet when dry, not wet. To really shift dead skin. Use a sturdy foot file and focus on the heels, balls of feet and edges of toes.

2. Fill a bowl with warm water and add a reviving foot soak which helps strengthen and whiten nails. Soak feet for 10 minutes. If you can lay your hands on some marbles, pop them in the bowl and roll your feet back and forth over them for a blissful DIY massage!
3. Massage feet briskly with a foot scrub to get rid of the last dregs of dead skin, then rinse.
4. Dry your feet and gently ease back your cuticles with a cuticle stick.
5. Cut your nails straight across with nail clippers. Make lots of little snips, rather than all at once, or you might break your nail.
6. Use a nail file to gently round the edges of your toenails so they don't snag your tights.
7. Massage your feet with a rich foot lotion.
8. For the ultimate treat, apply foot lotion before bedtime, wrap them in cling film, then add some socks and hop into bed. Wake up to dreamy-soft soles!
9. If you want to add some colour, wipe off the foot lotion from your nails using a damp cotton wool pad. Then add a base coat, two layers of polish and a high-shine topcoat.
10. For a low-maintenance finish add a coat of stain corrector which instantly brightens your nail tip and makes the nail bed pinker and prettier.
